La Charte des Nations Unies, signée en 1945 à San Francisco, par 51 pays représentant l’ensemble des continents, a donné naissance à l’Organisation.
Née des cendres de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’ONU est le résultat d’un engagement mondial pour « préserver les générations futures du fléau de la guerre » avec la vision d’arriver à un monde plus juste, plus paisible et prospère pour nous tous.
« Huit décennies plus tard, on peut établir un lien direct entre la création de l’Organisation des Nations Unies et la prévention d’une troisième guerre mondiale », a déclaré le Secrétaire général de l’ONU en février, lors d’une réunion du Conseil de Sécurité.
