Christ's Example :
If someone is hungry or thirsty (Proverbs 25 : 21-22) it means they are lacking, they are empty, they are in need. Following Christ challenges us to our human core. How would you respond to your enemy? To someone who has hurt you? Yet we are called to meet their needs. Jesus offered a prayer of forgiveness while his enemies tortured him and watched him die. His example is one we must follow.
Prayer: Father, you do not say that it will be easy to love our enemies. You simply say to love them. We cannot love them on our own strength so you empower us with your love, to love as you have loved us. Even when my enemy is in need may I respond in obedience to love and serve them. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Same Love …
Different Expressions In “The Five Love Languages,” author Gary Chapman suggests that people may give and receive love in several primary ways – physical touch, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, and quality time. If we plan to practice the love of God, we may need to adjust our methods to meet the needs of those to whom we are ministering. Perhaps our neighbourhood elderlies don’t just need a meal, but also need someone to listen to them. Maybe cleaning the toilet may be more loving than bringing home another rose. Love meets the felt-needs.
Prayer: Dear Lord and heavenly Father, thank you for meeting our utmost need of love and acceptance. Thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life. May I be a vessel, a channel of your love to those around me today. Help me to be a source of comfort with making people feel loved. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Where To Call:
To be distressed is to be in extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain. When you are at your lowest point who will you call out to? When money, possessions, family, friends cannot answer who will you call out to? And if you call to them will they be able to save you from your distress? Here the psalm 86 writes with the confidence that in our extreme sorrow or pain, we can call out to God and he will answer.
Prayer: Father, give me the confidence to know that when everything around me seems hopeless and I call to you, you will answer me. Your love is everlasting toward me. Amen.
