*Value vs Price Explained
The financial world often confuses price with value,
*but they are fundamentally different
Price is driven by market speculation, supply and demand fluctuations, and short-term sentiment.
It reflects what buyers are willing to pay at a given moment, not necessarily what something is truly worth.
*Value is the intrinsic worth*
- determined by utility, acceptance, and the community or ecosystem that supports it.
Value is far more stable because it is based on real use and mutual agreement rather than speculation.
*In Pi’s Case
Pi Value is not dictated by speculative traders or centralized exchanges:
It is set by the Pi Community of Buyers and Sellers through a shared benchmark - the Pi Benchmark Value, currently 1Pi is US$314,159. equivalent.
*This benchmark is not arbitrary;*
it is supported by real transactions between merchants and users worldwide who accept Pi at this value in barter and commerce.
*Why Exchange Prices Are Misleading
The Pi Coin listed on the exchanges is not the officially launched Mainnet Pi.
The Pi Core Team has not endorsed or supported these prices. The so-called *“exchange price”* - often just a few cents - reflects speculative tokens with no direct link to the true Pi economy.
*The GCV Advantage
> Creates a stable, community-backed economy.
> Protects Pi’s purchasing power from being undermined by speculators.
> Sustains user confidence and long-term adoption, as proven by millions of on-chain transactions already occurring at the benchmark rate.
*Sum up
While *price* can be a fleeting number on a chart,
*value* is built from the ground up
- by trust, adoption, and real-world usage.
*For Pi,*
the GCV is the benchmark value, and it is the foundation upon which Pi’s economic future is being built. This benchmark, in time, will be adjusted to the value of the growing intrinsic worth of Pi Networm. Mining
