LESUNG is a traditional rice pounding tool that is still used in villages in Indonesia.
Usually the work of pounding rice is carried out by the mothers in large groups while singing happily.
The tool used for pounding is a long cylindrical piece of wood called an ALU. While pounding, the pestle is hit alternately against the body of the LESUNG, thus producing a distinctive sound and rhythm.
