Camil Ressu studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Bucharest and at the Academie Julian in Paris and since then he influenced the artistic currents of that time. Ressu has always been a complex artist and his most frequent works reflected his social and political concerns and throughout his career he managed to shock. One of his most shocking works and which created a lot of opinions was the "liberal takist clique" in which "all the red penciled mouths greeted it with wet grins of impermanence". This work was harshly criticized because it was perceived as an insult and attack on the big political names of this time, the elite class to be exact, and the shock created discussions that were harsh and intense.
