🇮🇹🇷🇺🇺🇦 The Italian Defense Minister called for a truce in Ukraine and peace negotiations with the Russian Federation, because he believes that Western sanctions have not had the expected effect, and the West itself has overestimated its influence in the world, believing that sanctions will stop Putin’s invasion.

“Now the only way to solve this crisis is to involve everyone, first a truce and then peace,” Guido Crosetto said in an interview with Il Messaggero.

To the journalist’s statement that Putin “has not yet shown any readiness for negotiations,” Crosetto replied:

“This is a good reason for us to try even harder. We should not give up on any possible path of diplomacy, no matter how narrow it may be”

At the same time, Crosetto supported Italy’s decision to continue sending weapons to Ukraine, saying that this was aimed at obtaining “time and conditions to achieve a truce and peace.”

The minister also said that on the eve of Ukraine’s counter-offensive in the summer of 2023, he personally called on Zelensky to abandon these plans, believing that it was “doomed to failure” due to the military superiority of the Russian Federation.
